Slicers

Slicers are interactive buttons that let you filter table data quickly and visually. You can create slicers through the Table Design tab.

When to use Slicers

  • Filtering data dynamically: Quickly display data for specific periods, regions, products, or customers.
  • Analyzing data from multiple angles: Switch instantly between departments, sales reps, or locations.
  • Making reports interactive: Allow viewers to change the views without modifying the report itself.
  • Comparing subsets of data: Toggle easily between categories to compare performance side by side.

Create slicers based on a table

  1. On the Insert tab, select Table and create a table.
  2. Click the table to show the Table Design tab.
  3. Under Tools, click Insert Slicer.
  4. Choose the columns you want to create a slicer for.
  5. The slicer appears in your sheet and is linked to the table.
  6. To change the slicer properties, right-click the slicer and select Size and Properties or Slicer Settings.

You can only create slicers if the table contains at least one column.
