Google Maps Properties

Properties specific to the Map view are described below. For general configuration options, see Generic Views Properties, which apply to all view types.

To access these properties, first create or open a google map view. Then, from the Toolbar panel on the right, select Map Properties and open the Design tab.

Map Style

Map Type

OptionDescription
Map TypeSelect the type of map to display. Options include Road Map, Satellite, Hybrid, and Terrain, as provided by the Google Maps API.

Color

OptionDescription
Landscape ColorApply a custom color to landscape areas using the Color picker.
Water ColorApply a custom color to water features using the Color picker.
Road ColorApply a custom color to roads using the Color picker.

Drill Down Control

Enable drill-down on map areas to navigate to more detailed geographic levels, such as from country to region or city.

Markers

Marker Type

OptionDescription
TypeChoose how data points appear on the map:

  • Icon – Marks individual locations with symbols.
  • Heat Map – Visualizes data density using color gradients.

Marker Properties

These options are only available when Icon is selected under Marker Type.

OptionDescription
Icon TypeChoose how icons are displayed:

  • Simple – All icons use the same shape and color.
  • Based on a Color Field – Icon color varies by the value of the selected field.
  • Based on Values – Icon appearance varies based on numeric ranges or classifications.
Simple IconSelect the shape and color for icons when using the Simple option.
Icon Color FieldSelect the field used to determine icon color when using Based on a Color Field.
ValueSelect the field used to classify or scale icon appearance when using Based on Values.
Max ColorSet the color that represents the highest value.
Min ColorSet the color that represents the lowest value.
Number of levelsDefine the number of segments or value ranges for visual scaling.
Marker SizeSet the icon size. Use a fixed value or a field to vary size by data.

Heat Map Properties

These options are only available when Heat Map is selected under Marker Type.

DensityAdjust the intensity of the heat map to control how colors represent data concentration.

Clusters

Show data points as clusters when they are close together on the map, improving performance and readability when displaying large numbers of locations.

Legend

Show Legend

Show or hide the legend on the map to help interpret marker colors, values, or classifications.

Tooltips

Region Details

Select up to five fields—Field 1 through Field 5—to show in tooltips when hovering over a region or marker.
