Link To
The Link To feature allows you to navigate from one visualization—such as a view, dashboard, or report—to another view or an Application Link. The list of available destination views depends on whether their data model is mapped to the same global parameter as the field you selected. This setup ensures the selected value is passed and applied correctly.
When using an Application Link to open an external URL, the selected value is added to the URL according to the global parameter. If a global variable is included, it will also be filled in automatically.
When to use Link To
- Drilling into KPIs: Open related reports from dashboard metrics to understand the details behind the numbers.
- Connecting summary and detail views: Explore your data from different perspectives by linking summary and detailed analyses.
- Integrating with external systems: Jump to external URLs with dynamic values to access other tools or systems, such as CRMs or ERPs.
- Providing contextual navigation: Direct users to relevant reports or data based on their current view for a more efficient workflow.
Link to vs Link To with Parent Value
You can choose between Link To and Link To With Parent Values. Both provide navigation between views, but differ in how they handle grouped values.
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Link To | Passes filters based only on your selection. For example, filters on the selected Subcategory. |
| Link To With Parent Values | Passes filters of your selection and all parent groups. For example, filters on both Category and Subcategory. |

- The Navigation Links dialog shows available views or external Application Links based on the global parameter configured for the selected field.
