Move a Central Point
You might need to move a Central Point if migrating to a new server or transitioning from a test to a production environment. The steps below describe how to move a Central Point when the shared folder and database are on the same server.
Migration steps
- Log in to Nectari.
- In the navigation panel, select the gear icon to open Administration.
- Select Manage License.
- Copy the Nectari, NectariCube, and BI License databases to the new server.
- Copy the Central Point shared folder to the new server and set up file sharing.
The BI Service user (or everyone, if there is no dedicated user) must have full control permissions on the shared folder. - In the shared folder, edit the
nec-centralpoint.xmlfile. - On the third line, update the
<location>tag with the new shared folder path. - Open the Web Central Point Configurator and connect it to the new Central Point location.
- Update the database configuration in the Configurator to reference the new server.
- If you are moving application services, install the Nectari Server package, specifying the new Central Point path.
- If you are not reinstalling the server, open the
web.configfile at:C:\Program Files\Nectari\Nectari Server\WebServer\Web.configC:\Program Files\SEI\SEI Server\WebServer\Web.config
- Locate the
<CentralPointDictionary>section and update the Central Point path(s) to the new folder location. - Log in with the
ADMINuser and enter your license key. - On all workstations using the Excel Add-in, remove the old Central Point connection and set up a new connection to the Central Point on the new server.
