Fiscal Year Global Variables
The @@FISCALYEAR_START_END global variable determines whether the start or end year is used for fiscal year labeling, calculations, and reporting in Nectari. This affects how fiscal periods are referenced and displayed—especially when your fiscal year does not align with the calendar year.
Set the value to 1 to use the start year for all fiscal period calculations and display, or set it to 2 (the default) to use the end year. Configuring this variable ensures that all reports, cubes, and date filters remain consistent with your organization’s year convention.
Benefits of the Finished Year global variable
- Aligning reporting with business rules: Display the fiscal year in a way that matches your organizational or statutory requirements.
- Ensuring consistency across reports: Avoid confusion in year-to-year analysis by standardizing all period and year labels.
Configure the global variable
- In the navigation panel, click the gear icon to open the Administration section.
- On the left panel, click Global Variables.
- Click the pen icon next to @@FISCALYEAR_START_END. Use the search box to find it quickly from the list.
- In the Script field, enter:
- 1 to use Start Year (the fiscal period's first year for reporting/labels)

Update related global variable
If you set @@FISCALYEAR_START_END to 1 (Start Year), you must also set the StartOrEnd value for @@CURPERIOD and @@LASTDAYPERIOD global variables to 1 in their Script field.
- Find and edit the
@@CURPERIODglobal variable. - Set its Script value
StartOrEndto 1. - Find and edit the
@@LASTDAYPERIODglobal variable. - Also set its Script field
StartOrEndto 1. - Click Update for each.
For correct fiscal period calculations, all three global variables must use the same setting (either all 1 for Start Year or all 2 for End Year).
Example - May as the fiscal year
If your first fiscal month is May:
- Fiscal Year = May 2021 to April 2022
- Start Year = 2021
- End Year = 2022
- Period 01 = May 2021
- Period 12 = April 2022
If you set @@FISCALYEAR_START_END (and the other required variables) to 1, fiscal years will be shown as starting in 2021.
If set to 2, fiscal years will be shown as ending in 2022.
