Radar Charts

Radar charts, also called spider or web charts, visualize multivariate data by plotting values around a central point. This format makes it easy to compare patterns, trends, and outliers across multiple categories. It helps reveal strengths, weaknesses, and overall balance when assessing performance, capabilities, or the distribution of resources.

Use radar charts to compare performance across metrics, highlight strengths and weaknesses, or analyze KPI balance across products, teams, or time periods.

Example use cases

example
  • Sales channel performance: Compare monthly results across sales channels (online, retail, wholesale) for metrics like revenue, order volume, or conversion rate.
  • Departmental budgeting: Show how departments allocate budgets across expense categories to spot over- or under-investment.

Radar Line and Spline types

ChartDescription
Radar LineConnects category values with straight lines around a circle.
Stacked Radar LineStacks values to show cumulative totals by category.
Stacked Radar Line 100%Stacks values to 100% for proportional comparisons.
Radar SplineConnects points with smooth curves for trend clarity.
Stacked Radar SplineStacks smoothed lines to show accumulations.
Stacked Radar Spline 100%Stacks smooth lines to 100% for proportional analysis.

Radar Area and Spline Area types

ChartDescription
Radar AreaFills the area under each line to show magnitude by category.
Stacked Radar AreaStacks filled areas to show total and individual contributions.
Stacked Radar Area 100%Stacks areas as percentages for part-to-whole relationships.
Radar Spline AreaFills the area beneath a smoothed spline line.
Stacked Radar Spline AreaStacks filled areas under smooth lines to show accumulations.
Stacked Radar Spline Area 100%Stacks filled spline areas to 100% for relative proportions.

Radar Column types

ChartDescription
Radar ColumnDisplays data as columns distributed around a circle.
Stacked Radar ColumnStacks columns to show cumulative values.
Stacked Radar Column 100%Stacks columns to 100% to compare proportions.

Create a radar chart

  1. Select Data Models and Views from the navigation panel.
